PH Stainless Steels: How 17-4PH, 15-5PH and 13-8PH Differ
PH stainless steels are a special grade group combining corrosion resistance with high strength after aging.

At Move Metal we prepare technical content not only to present products, but to help purchasing and production teams make better decisions. Material selection is an engineering decision in which standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, supply form and downstream processes are read together.
What is PH stainless steel?
Precipitation-hardening stainless steels combine the expectation of stainless behaviour with high mechanical strength. While strength is increased by aging, dimensional control can be kept at a good level in most applications.
Grade comparison
17-4PH is a common and balanced solution. 15-5PH stands out where better toughness and more controlled properties are expected. 13-8PH can be considered for high strength and precision engineering applications.

Selection tip
The corrosive environment, target strength, heat-treatment condition and certification requirement must be evaluated in the same table.
Before you proceed
For the right decision, share the sample, drawing, operating temperature, target hardness, expected quantity and any certification requirement together. This information reduces unnecessary cost while increasing part life and process safety.
The Move Metal perspective
For us, good supply means delivering the right grade, at the right time, in the right form and with traceable information. The customer receives not only material, but technical assurance that supports the production decision.
